If I Were A Cat

So recently I had the golden opportunity to visit the “Cat Cafe Studio”. It was one of the best concepts for a cafe I have ever seen. There were almost 15 cats and kittens in the room. There were set rules like – do not pick the cats up, sanitize your hands before you touch them and to not wake them up when they are sleeping. The downside being that most of these cats were asleep when we were there but once they wake up, you cannot resist petting them and just wait for them to come towards you! The feeling is actually indescribable, you will only know it when you are present there, and of course if you like cats.

I sort of had an epiphany when I was there and it was the realization that cats are actually my spirit animal. People have crazy spirit animals who are wild and unique but mine is as simple as a cat. That’s probably also what I want to be in my next life. Though the internet differs when I took the quizย for the same,ย my answer was:

The owl spirit animal is emblematic of a deep connection with wisdom and intuitive knowledge. When the spirit of the animal guides you, you can the true reality and see beyond illusion and deceit.

Leaving that aside, I wish I were a cat because

  • All I want to do is laze around with a book during afternoons and sleep until late in the mornings.
  • All I want is to be pampered all day and never give any of that love in return ๐Ÿ˜›
  • All I want is to be fed good food and fish and run around and out of the house at my whim
  • Most of all, I want to be the master of my own life and make my own choices without caring about the world at large. HAHAHA!

And that is what i believe cats think about inside their tiny brains.

Do not miss the adorable puns in this adorable video about how cats became our feline overlords a.k.a me in next life. ๐Ÿ˜›

Sports and Women

I have never been much of a sports person but I have never hated it either. I do hate it when people get super patriotic when their teams are playing and resort to name calling and jibes. That’s the worst. Anyway I am going off topic here. Today, I just wanted to make a compilation of really really good sports advertisements/music videos. Some of them are all about women, but that’s just how good they are!

So here it goes (in no particular order):

Life – Visualized

Recently, I came across this video by Afterglow by Wilkinson which has left a deep imprint on my mind. Why? Watch it first and then I will tell you.

Suppose all this were true? All these statistics and figures. Wouldn’t it make a perfect gift for your better half? Sorry, it would be more than perfect, a little creepy also maybe. LOL. Nevertheless, you can always fudge the statistics. After all its the thought that counts. How minutely they have captured the intricacies of a relationship is what amazed me and also their hilarious representations. I hope more videos come out like this, in different context. It would be thoroughly enjoyable.

Damien Rice

If I had to describe Damien Rice in just a few words I would say he is the one who can make you cry, make you fall in love, make you fall out of love and then teach you a thing or two about it. I cannot even recount the number of times I have just sat on my terrace listening to his songs, staring into nothingness. It is surreal. It really is. But of course that could just be my opinion, you will have to listen to him to believe me. ๐Ÿ™‚

Here are some of his beauties which really stayed with me, the name of the song in bold followed by some of the lyrics:

I still haven’t found what I am looking for

I have kissed honey lips,
Felt the healing in her fingertips.
It burned like fire,
This burning desire.

Delicate

So why do you fill my sorrows,
With the words you’ve borrowed?
From the only place you’ve known.
And why do you sing Hallelujah?
If it means nothing to you,
Why do you sing with me at all?

I don’t want to change you

Wherever you are
Well, know that I adore you.
No matter how far
Well, I can go before you.
And if ever you need someone
Well, not that you need helping
But if ever you want someone
I know that I am willing.

Wherever you go
Well, I can always follow.
I can feed this real slow
If it’s a lot to swallow.
And if you just want to be alone
Well, I can wait without waiting
If you want me to let this go
Well, I am more than willing.

That’s What’s Up

Years ago, I came across this song called ‘Home’ by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes and it is one of the best songs on the theme of a home, about belonging, about love. For a long time I heard many other songs by them but it wasn’t until I found this song called “That’s What’s Up” when I fell in love again.

And here’s the video of “Home” as well in case you’re interested. It’s a beautiful song. Also followed by the lyrics for That’s What’s Up which you most probably won’t pay attention to because of the adorable video. *_*

I’ll be the church, you be the steeple
You be the king, I’ll be the people
Well I was feeling such a mess I thought you’d leave me behind
Well I was being such a wreck I thought you’d treat me unkind
But you helped me change my mind

I’ll be the sun, you be the shining
You be the clock, I’ll be the timing
Well I was feeling such a mess I thought you’d leave me behind
Well I was feeling so upset I thought the sun never shined

Then I found.. forever
Hey hey love
We’ve been best friends forever darling
That’s what’s up

Forever
No matter what
You’ve got my love to lean on darling
That’s what’s up
You’ve got my love to lean on darling
No matter what

You be the book, I’ll be the binding
You be the words, I’ll be the rhyming
While I was feeling such a wreck I thought I was losing my mind
While I was feeling such a mess I thought the sun never shined

You be the bird, I’ll be the feather
We’ll be the best of friends forever
While I was feeling such a mess I thought you’d leave me behind
While I was feeling such a wreck I thought you’d treat me unkind

Then I’ll find.. forever and always
You’ve got my love to lean on darling
All the days
Forever, come what may
You’ve got my love to lean on darling
All the days
You’ve got my love to lean on darling
All the days of our days, yeah

Love is our shelter
Love is our cause
Love goes on forever
Yeah love will lead us all

Love, it is our honour
Love, it is our all
Love goes on forever
Yeah love it is our home

Oh, yeah, that’s what’s up..

HONNE

Thanks to YouTube I came across this amazing song called “Warm on a Cold Night”. Before I begin talking about it, here is the video:

I know I am treading on thin ice when I start talking about Lesbian Relationships, because I have no authority to do so and also, it’s just an outsider’s perspective. But this video was just so beautiful that I couldn’t resist. The voice reminds me of Sweater Weather or maybe it’s the lyrics that are similar. What I noticed about the video is that nothing is said throughout, it’s just the song playing in the background and lights on the road passing by. They finally stop at a secluded parking area and take off their sweaters but it is not what you think it is. They get out of the car and start dancing together. I was so pleased with the way they have represented them, no male gaze in action and they seem to be having as much fun as we have watching their fluid movements. I thought that the girl who had a greater stature must be the one who was more in power but in the last scene of the video these assumptions are proven wrong. Both of them hold an equal standing in the relationship and the taller one looks at the other one adoringly. So much is shown and done without even doing anything. There is another song that I really loved which you might want to check out.
